Design and Process
This design process has been followed since the establishment of NPCC:
Concept and Refining Techniquies
- Ingenuity, experience and prior knowledge are applied to work out a preliminary design concept
- 3D model creation to satisfy the needs of the customer, taking into account all technical data previously discussed
- 3D model translation and adjustment to conform to a realistic model
- Process to take elements of the concept and arrange in proper order, size, and dimension
- Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) technology to analyze CAD geometry, allowing us to simulate and study how the product behaves
- Consideration given to expenditure in terms of time and money during the initial concept design phase
- Multiple design categories to verify ABS/API/Dnv/Lrs/OSHA standards compliance, including structural analysis, hydraulic analysis, dynamic analysis, and integrity analysis
- Mathematical testing of the crane design using FEA tools (ANSYS) to check for appropriate structural, kinematic, and dynamic strength against the applied mechanical, hydraulic loading, and external wind load
- Experimental testing of the crane design to ensure that it meets additional criteria and constraints
